SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - LDK Solar Co. said late Monday it has signed a five-year contract to supply multicrystalline solar wafers to Germany-based Qimonda AG.
Financial terms of the contract weren't disclosed.
Under the deal, LDK Solar will deliver roughly 540 megawatts of solar wafers to Qimonda -- or its new joint venture with Centrosolar -- from 2009 through 2013.
Qimonda will make an unspecified advanced payment representing a portion of the contract value to LDK Solar.
The agreement also allows LDK to receive scrap silicon material from Qimonda's chip production operations, LDK said
